MULTISITE and GROWING CHURCH ISSUES - 1
Yep, thats right EVERY CHURCH despite its size has ISSUES! Being part of a GROWING CHURCH brings with it some unique challenges. Think about the early church in the BOOK OF ACTS. They were experiencing EXPLOSIVE GROWTH which led to CHURCH COMPLAINTS!
Acts 6:1-4, “6 But as the believers rapidly multiplied, there were
rumblings of discontent. The Greek-speaking believers complained about the
Hebrew-speaking believers, saying that their widows were being discriminated
against in the daily distribution of food.
2 So the Twelve called a meeting of all the believers. They said, “We
apostles should spend our time teaching the word of God, not running a food
program. 3 And so, brothers, select seven men who are well respected and are
full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will give them this responsibility. 4 Then we
apostles can spend our time in prayer and teaching the word.” NLT
Don't miss what's actually going on here. The APOSTLES were all about making sure the PHYSICAL NEEDS of the church were being addressed and met, but not by the CHURCH LEADERS and especially not at the expense of NEGLECTING THE TEACHING OF GODS WORD and PRAYER.
So what did they do to solve the problem? What was the key to keeping the church growing forward and healthy? It was RAISING UP VOLUNTEERS! They went and found people to step into the MINISTRY to do what those people were called and gifted to do, so that the apostles could do what they were called and gifted to do. This is BIBLICAL and it is one of the keys to keeping our churches GROWING FORWARD and HEALTHY!
1 Corinthians 12:7, “A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can
help each other.” NLT
I truly believe that churches have everything they need AND everyone they need to do what they are called to do at this present moment!
The APOSTLES could have really STUNTED the GROWTH and HEALTH of the church if they had what I will call the SUPERMAN COMPLEX! SUPERMAN COMPLEX LEADERS think they are self-sufficient, they have all they help they need, they don't need anyone else, and that they have no inadequacies. At then end of the day its called PRIDE and its a sin against the BODY OF CHRIST, THE CHURCH, and its one of the hardest things for leaders to see and be honest about.
So what do we do? How what are some steps on how we can GROW FORWARD and STAY HEALTHY? I'll share some thoughts in my NEXT POST.
