YOU GOT TO KNOW, IF YOU'RE GONNA GROW...

Whether its a NEW SERVICE or a NEW CAMPUS when it comes to LAUNCHING any new initiative INFORMATION MATTERS.  Let me clarify not just information, but GOOD INFORMATION.

Its IMPERATIVE to have GOOD INFORMATION if you are going to make GOOD DECISIONS.

At GRANITE we use an ONLINE DATABASE, but what you may not know is that a DATABASE only reports back to you what you put into it, lol!  So its IMPORTANT to try (because its very hard to do) to keep your DATABASE CLEAN and UP-TO-DATE.

As LEADERS, yes we are driven by FAITH!  We realize WITHOUT FAITH its impossible to please GOD.  But that does not take away from our responsibility to DO OUR PART.  

Mark chapter 6 records the miracle of the FEEDING OF THE 5,000.  Within the account JESUS asks the question in verse 38, "HOW MUCH BREAD DO YOU HAVE?".  What JESUS Says next is HUGE, BIG, I mean GINORMOUS, and it either was a response to either the look on the disciple faces, or maybe something they said that initiated the next recorded words of JESUS.  

What are those recorded words?  I know you want to know, lol.  JESUS tells them , "GO AND FIND OUT."  WOW!  There is so much for us as leaders to glean just from these few short words, but here's two simple things...

1.  Before STARTING/LAUNCHING/MULTIPLYING make sure you have GOOD DATA.  
     Know what you have and access what you need.

2.  Be encouraged because WHEN WE DO OUR PART, JESUS WILL 
   DO HIS PART!  After all an entire community was fed that day!

AS A LEADER BE IN THE KNOW, BECAUSE IF YOU'RE GONNA GROW, YOU GOTTA KNOW!

In the book GO BIG the author suggests as goes the pastor so goes the church. In the GRANITE CONTEXT I would put it this way, AS GOES THE MINISTRY LEAD SO GOES THAT MINISTRY. We are a team oriented, team driven church, meaning, as LEAD PASTOR allot of sharing has been given out in our ministry, with the PRIVILEGE comes incredible RESPONSIBILITY. One of the things I have been encouraging our MINISTRY LEADS in 2011 is to GET YOUR HANDS OFF THE MINISTRY AND ONTO THE MINISTERS. As a HIGH LEVEL LEADER you cannot afford to get bogged down in programs and must stayed focused on people, your ministry people. Eph. 4:11-12, encourages us to EQUIP SAINTS, not to run programs. Programs are important but they do not warrant our attention tot he point of neglecting our teams. It will be our team members who will provide healthy programs, as we pour our lives in maintaining healthy leaders. So lets make this post a little more interactive than usual and throw out some ideas on how to LOVE ON

NOTHING CAN REPLACE THE LOCAL CHURCH

A pastor friend of mine and I were talking about the season the LOCAL CHURCH finds herself in right now. After our conversation he put this little slide together which is so true. Just remember this isnt burning on other GREAT MINISTRIES and PASTORS but those ministries need to be more like a 5 hour energy drink and not your main meal. Everyone needs THE LOCAL CHURCH and YOUR LOCAL CHURCH needs you. And more importantly THE LOCAL CHURCH is GODS PLAN for every Christians life. STAY CONNECTED...

Got To Love It

I am NOT venting in this post, I am simply sharing with you some of the crazy yet humorous things that happened in the past 7 days. 1. We had a former family who left our church a couple of years ago try to recruit one of our faithful families because we don't teach or use the Bible at GRANITE. 2. We had a family leave the church this week because we are to strict on how we teach the Bible and how serious we are about it. 3. I had a "christian" family tell me they left the church because of that darn rock and roll music we use sometimes to open up our services. 4. I baptized a man last week at the lake who said he was tuned in from the moment we sang Livin' On A Prayer (sung during our prayer series, and it was awesome) 5. Was told by a man that our church is to strict when it comes to holiness and purity, so he needed to find a new church that his lifestyle could fit in with 6. Was told that a man in our church was approached by someone and encouraged to leave
