A Campus Pastor Is... Part 3

QUALITY #3 - A Campus Pastor Is...

CONFRONTATIONAL:

Yikes, that’s not fun.  The truth is every team, no matter how well led or how AMAZING, will have VISION DRIFT, ATTITUDE ISSUES, or PERFORMANCE slipping.  These have to be addressed and YES the word that best sums up this act is CONFRONTED.

Graniteisms-
THE VISION IS NOT FOR SALE
GOD HAS NOT CALLED YOU TO GROW OLD, HE HAS CALLED YOU TO GROW UP
WHAT GOT US HERE WON’T GET US THERE

Example:  Here’s the RAW and the REAL.  When you “the leader” walk into an environment, if you are a leader, you will cause friction.  You will see something that could be better and you will say something.  You know the VISION and DNA and you will in the moment INSTRUCT someone on how to improve.
They will respond in several ways-
1.)  They will do it with joy.  Things will be awesome.
2.)  They will do it and you think it was with joy.  Then they will quit Monday.
3.)  They will say NO or something similar to that.  They will stay in that ministry until you remove them.
4.)  They will say NO or ignore you or something like that.  You will need to be removed because you put the VISION up for sale.

Now this applies when there is CLEAR violation of core DNA.  This is oftentimes in the moment, when the game is on the line.  This is critically important and unless you know for sure it’s a CLEAR VIOLATION, don’t make the call, but when there is an issue, make sure you are the person who can pull the trigger and stand your ground!

BOTTOM LINE - This is all about saying the TRUTH IN LOVE.  When done right you GLORIFY GOD, BUILD UP  A DISCIPLE, & PUSH EXCELLENCE ON THE CAMPUS.  If you are wrong (which will happen) the most valuable word you can use is I AM SORRY.  If you have the right people, you will be able to move forward together.  The wrong people hold onto it and will become an issue down the road.  But you can’t NOT PULL THE TRIGGER because of fear that it’s the wrong choice.
