WHY IS GRANITE A MULTI-SITE CHURCH?

SO WHY IS GRANITE UNITED CHURCH ONE CHURCH IN MULTIPLE LOCATIONS?  

This is a great question and one I get asked many many times so I thought I'd share a three reasons why.

NEW ENGLAND NEEDS JESUS - Salem alone has 30,000 residents.  If we are serious about not catering to the already convinced and seeing peoples lives forever changed we have to do anything and everything humanly possible to make room for people.  Our first location which is the SALEM CAMPUS has less then 200 seats in it and parking for 150ish cars.  If we are serious about ETERNITY and where people will spend it then we must MULTIPLY SEATS and PARKING SPACES.  At SALEM we already do 4 services on two separate days.  Moving to MULTIPLE LOCATIONS allows us to do ADD SEATS, ADD PARKING, and ADDS MORE PRIME TIME ATTENDANCE TIMES.

ALLOWS FOR MORE INVOLVEMENT - The more services and locations we can multiply the more opportunities we create for people to use their gifts!  At GRANITE we believe everyone has been SAVED TO SERVE NOT SAVED TO SIT!

BRINGS THE GOSPEL TO A PERSONS BACKYARD - One of the cool things about MULTIPLE LOCATIONS is it gives GRANITE a chance to bring their family and friends to a church service near them.  We want to do anything we can to eliminate any reason why a person may not want to attend GRANITE including distance.  Part of being a GREAT COMMISSION CHURCH is GOING...

So there ya go, three reasons why we are a MULTI-SITE CHURCH.  There are plenty more, but these are three of the biggies.

Tomorrow I will answer the question whats the BIGGEST CHALLENGE with being MULTI-SITE, the answer may surprise you!

LEADERS LEAD

In the book GO BIG the author suggests as goes the pastor so goes the church. In the GRANITE CONTEXT I would put it this way, AS GOES THE MINISTRY LEAD SO GOES THAT MINISTRY. We are a team oriented, team driven church, meaning, as LEAD PASTOR allot of sharing has been given out in our ministry, with the PRIVILEGE comes incredible RESPONSIBILITY. One of the things I have been encouraging our MINISTRY LEADS in 2011 is to GET YOUR HANDS OFF THE MINISTRY AND ONTO THE MINISTERS. As a HIGH LEVEL LEADER you cannot afford to get bogged down in programs and must stayed focused on people, your ministry people. Eph. 4:11-12, encourages us to EQUIP SAINTS, not to run programs. Programs are important but they do not warrant our attention tot he point of neglecting our teams. It will be our team members who will provide healthy programs, as we pour our lives in maintaining healthy leaders. So lets make this post a little more interactive than usual and throw out some ideas on how to LOVE ON

Got To Love It

I am NOT venting in this post, I am simply sharing with you some of the crazy yet humorous things that happened in the past 7 days. 1. We had a former family who left our church a couple of years ago try to recruit one of our faithful families because we don't teach or use the Bible at GRANITE. 2. We had a family leave the church this week because we are to strict on how we teach the Bible and how serious we are about it. 3. I had a "christian" family tell me they left the church because of that darn rock and roll music we use sometimes to open up our services. 4. I baptized a man last week at the lake who said he was tuned in from the moment we sang Livin' On A Prayer (sung during our prayer series, and it was awesome) 5. Was told by a man that our church is to strict when it comes to holiness and purity, so he needed to find a new church that his lifestyle could fit in with 6. Was told that a man in our church was approached by someone and encouraged to leave
