LOVE PEOPLE, NOT PROGRAMS

Jesus calls us to pour our lives into people, just like He did. Jesus did not come to pour His life into programs but in real living breathing people. Programs are not created in the image of God people are. As leaders we need to make an COMMITMENT to the people God brings to our church each and every week not to a program. PROGRAMS WILL COME AND GO, PEOPLE WE WANT TO REACH AND KEEP, IT’S ALL ABOUT PEOPLE!


Programs are nothing more than vehicles to bring people to the place Jesus calls them, DISCIPLESHIP. Programs should be sharp, followed through with, updated, and changed at times. But they are always for and about people. Programs are run by people for people.

So get to know the people who are connecting to your programs. I hope you wrestle with creating better programs that will PUSH THE VISION AND MOVE PEOPLE to become full court followers of Jesus.

So this week, LEARN A NEW NAME, address someone by their name. PAY ATTENTION TO PEOPLE. Work on your programs during the week and then let your programs work for you on the weekend so you can GIVE YOUR FULL 100% ATTENTION TO PEOPLE.

PEOPLE MATTER TO GOD, THEY BETTER MATTER TO US.

    I love that, Work on your programs during the week, so that on the weekend your programs can work for you so that you can focus 100% on people! Preparation makes way for the presence and time for the people!

    The practical steps seem so simple, but we forget them as we try to execute tasks and programs. What is it that impresses returning guests most? When someone remembers their name.

In the book GO BIG the author suggests as goes the pastor so goes the church. In the GRANITE CONTEXT I would put it this way, AS GOES THE MINISTRY LEAD SO GOES THAT MINISTRY. We are a team oriented, team driven church, meaning, as LEAD PASTOR allot of sharing has been given out in our ministry, with the PRIVILEGE comes incredible RESPONSIBILITY. A pastor friend of mine and I were talking about the season the LOCAL CHURCH finds herself in right now. After our conversation he put this little slide together which is so true. Just remember this isnt burning on other GREAT MINISTRIES and PASTORS but those ministries need to be more like a 5 hour energy drink and not your main meal. Got To Love It

I am NOT venting in this post, I am simply sharing with you some of the crazy yet humorous things that happened in the past 7 days. 1. We had a former family who left our church a couple of years ago try to recruit one of our faithful families because we don't teach or use the Bible at GRANITE. 2. We had a family leave the church this week because we are to strict on how we teach the Bible and how serious we are about it. 3. I had a "christian" family tell me they left the church because of that darn rock and roll music we use sometimes to open up our services. 4. I baptized a man last week at the lake who said he was tuned in from the moment we sang Livin' On A Prayer (sung during our prayer series, and it was awesome) 5. Was told by a man that our church is to strict when it comes to holiness and purity, so he needed to find a new church that his lifestyle could fit in with 6. Was told that a man in our church was approached by someone and encouraged to leave
