2011 - ARE YOU READY?

You better be because we're here! 2011 is here and its fully intent on moving ahead with or without us, the nerve! As leaders in a growing and going church one of the hardest things we will ever have to do is to stay AHEAD of the church. In other words, we have to have a clear understanding of where we are headed, how we will lead to the desired destination, and what are the the necessary steps to take to get us to where God wants us to go and then the courage to take our church on this journey.

One of the things I will be moving our team towards is getting our hands OFF THE MINISTRY and ONTO THE MINISTERS. I'm not going to elaborate on that just yet, I want it to simmer a little bit.

So let me ask you, did 2010 go as expected for you as a leader? Whether it did or didn't THE PAST IS THE PAST, with all its successes and failures, THE PAST IS THE PAST. So embrace THE NOW, but begin this year with the END IN MIND. Fast forward to 2012, and write out what "happened" in 2011. As your writing, make sure its GOD SIZED! When your finished writing what "happened" in 2011, and your believe its God sized, begin WORKING BACKWARDS in making your part of JESUS' DREAM for GRANITE a reality.

Lastly, why not take a risk and share you 2011 story with someone on the team!

    2011 Court, you aren't going to believe what happens to you, your family, and Granite United Church this year. You are privileged beyond what you realize, the resources God has put in your hands to continue His work in New England has been given SO GENEROUSLY to this GENERATION!

    2011 you will get to see THE BIG EVENTS (Christmas, Easter, etc) grow exponentially. Put the opportunities in people's hands & push for EXCELLENCE in everything you do. Expect it from yourself and expect from the team. You will RISE to that LEVEL and so will THEY.

    2011 you will get to see some relational investments pay off. Commit to training up and encouraging the leaders you have around you, don't stop inviting others into opportunities. Don't neglect your own growth. You are helping people get into their SWEET SPOT of ministry and God's Church is going to benefit BIG TIME!

    2011 the 2nd Campus (maybe 3rd as well) of Granite United will launch. You are going to be stressed, you will be stretched, but you and Kara will develop a new level of dependence on God.

    You are going to make BIG ASKS of some people. It will appear CRAZY, but GO FOR IT. The absolute worse thing you can do, is NEVER ASK. They can always say NO, but then they could always say YES.

    Trust your leadership. Reject the temptation to compare. Fight your instinct to run, throw in the towel, or get frustrated. 2011 is already WON, it's going to be an incredible year!

LEADERS LEAD

In the book GO BIG the author suggests as goes the pastor so goes the church. In the GRANITE CONTEXT I would put it this way, AS GOES THE MINISTRY LEAD SO GOES THAT MINISTRY. We are a team oriented, team driven church, meaning, as LEAD PASTOR allot of sharing has been given out in our ministry, with the PRIVILEGE comes incredible RESPONSIBILITY. One of the things I have been encouraging our MINISTRY LEADS in 2011 is to GET YOUR HANDS OFF THE MINISTRY AND ONTO THE MINISTERS. As a HIGH LEVEL LEADER you cannot afford to get bogged down in programs and must stayed focused on people, your ministry people. Eph. 4:11-12, encourages us to EQUIP SAINTS, not to run programs. Programs are important but they do not warrant our attention tot he point of neglecting our teams. It will be our team members who will provide healthy programs, as we pour our lives in maintaining healthy leaders. So lets make this post a little more interactive than usual and throw out some ideas on how to LOVE ON

Got To Love It

I am NOT venting in this post, I am simply sharing with you some of the crazy yet humorous things that happened in the past 7 days. 1. We had a former family who left our church a couple of years ago try to recruit one of our faithful families because we don't teach or use the Bible at GRANITE. 2. We had a family leave the church this week because we are to strict on how we teach the Bible and how serious we are about it. 3. I had a "christian" family tell me they left the church because of that darn rock and roll music we use sometimes to open up our services. 4. I baptized a man last week at the lake who said he was tuned in from the moment we sang Livin' On A Prayer (sung during our prayer series, and it was awesome) 5. Was told by a man that our church is to strict when it comes to holiness and purity, so he needed to find a new church that his lifestyle could fit in with 6. Was told that a man in our church was approached by someone and encouraged to leave
