CHURCH - IT'S PERSONAL

CHURCH - Its not a building iITS A FAMILY. Families are about commitment, truthfulness, growth, they stick together through the good and the bad, the thick and the thin. Their enduring, intentional relational and they believe the best and want the best for each other.
Family is about putting the needs of others first despite the personal sacrifice, being faithful to promises made, holding one another accountable, cheering each other along, and dig in because there's too much at stake. 
There's a number of reason I take my church family seriously. See "I KNOW" the stories of the people who sit in the chairs, I know the struggles they face, I know the victories they've expereinced, the pain they bear and the healing they've found. 
My church has a name and its not only granite UNITED church, its THE NAME of every child, every teenager, and every adult who calls GRANITE HOME. 
So if you wondering why I'm so passionate about the church its really not that complicated THESE PEOPLE ARE MY FAMILY! And you need to know I take my family seriously! I will protect my family, I will protect my families unity, and I will do everything I can to love her, grow her, and protect her from hurt. 
Our family will not be for everyone, and thats okay because they are other great church families in the area. If GRANITES not for you we are okay with that, and we will encourage you to find a church family you where you can serve JESUS and find community. A church where you can win the lost and make disciples thats GODS PLAN. 
Yep, its called family and I'm honored to be part of the GRANITE UNITED FAMILY. The stakes are way to high to play games!  ‪#‎nothere‬ ‪#‎notnow‬‪#‎notever‬

A pastor friend of mine and I were talking about the season the LOCAL CHURCH finds herself in right now. After our conversation he put this little slide together which is so true. Just remember this isnt burning on other GREAT MINISTRIES and PASTORS but those ministries need to be more like a 5 hour energy drink and not your main meal. LEADERS LEAD

In the book GO BIG the author suggests as goes the pastor so goes the church. In the GRANITE CONTEXT I would put it this way, AS GOES THE MINISTRY LEAD SO GOES THAT MINISTRY. We are a team oriented, team driven church, meaning, as LEAD PASTOR allot of sharing has been given out in our ministry, with the PRIVILEGE comes incredible RESPONSIBILITY. One of the things I have been encouraging our MINISTRY LEADS in 2011 is to GET YOUR HANDS OFF THE MINISTRY AND ONTO THE MINISTERS. As a HIGH LEVEL LEADER you cannot afford to get bogged down in programs and must stayed focused on people, your ministry people. Eph. 4:11-12, encourages us to EQUIP SAINTS, not to run programs. Programs are important but they do not warrant our attention tot he point of neglecting our teams. It will be our team members who will provide healthy programs, as we pour our lives in maintaining healthy leaders. So lets make this post a little more interactive than usual and throw out some ideas on how to LOVE ON

Got To Love It

I am NOT venting in this post, I am simply sharing with you some of the crazy yet humorous things that happened in the past 7 days. 1. We had a former family who left our church a couple of years ago try to recruit one of our faithful families because we don't teach or use the Bible at GRANITE. 2. We had a family leave the church this week because we are to strict on how we teach the Bible and how serious we are about it. 3. I had a "christian" family tell me they left the church because of that darn rock and roll music we use sometimes to open up our services. 4. I baptized a man last week at the lake who said he was tuned in from the moment we sang Livin' On A Prayer (sung during our prayer series, and it was awesome) 5. Was told by a man that our church is to strict when it comes to holiness and purity, so he needed to find a new church that his lifestyle could fit in with 6. Was told that a man in our church was approached by someone and encouraged to leave
