NO TEAM EQUALS NO GROWTH - EVERY TIME #1

SHOW ME YOUR TEAM AND I WILL SHOW YOU YOUR FUTURE!  This is one of the things I have taught for 17 yeas as Pastor of GRANITE UNITED CHURCH!  I remember a person saying to me when about 2 years into RE-PLANTING GRANITE that I was OVER STAFFED!

Now let me explain the CUTURE OF GRANITE has been and continues to be to MAXIMIZE LAY LEADERS by EQUIPPING and EMPOWERING THEM.  I truly believe (and its BIBLICAL) that GOD really does give GIFTS TO PEOPLE in HIS CHURCH to see HIS CHURCH ACCOMPLISH HIS MISSION!

Back to the point!  When the person suggested I was OVER STAFFED I informed them that I wasn't staffing GRANITE for where we were, but for WHERE WE WERE GOING.

When you look at your team what does it tell you about YOUR FUTURE and where you're going as a ministry?  I'll post more on this in the next few days to come!

In the book GO BIG the author suggests as goes the pastor so goes the church. In the GRANITE CONTEXT I would put it this way, AS GOES THE MINISTRY LEAD SO GOES THAT MINISTRY. We are a team oriented, team driven church, meaning, as LEAD PASTOR allot of sharing has been given out in our ministry, with the PRIVILEGE comes incredible RESPONSIBILITY. One of the things I have been encouraging our MINISTRY LEADS in 2011 is to GET YOUR HANDS OFF THE MINISTRY AND ONTO THE MINISTERS. As a HIGH LEVEL LEADER you cannot afford to get bogged down in programs and must stayed focused on people, your ministry people. Eph. 4:11-12, encourages us to EQUIP SAINTS, not to run programs. Programs are important but they do not warrant our attention tot he point of neglecting our teams. It will be our team members who will provide healthy programs, as we pour our lives in maintaining healthy leaders. NOTHING CAN REPLACE THE LOCAL CHURCH

A pastor friend of mine and I were talking about the season the LOCAL CHURCH finds herself in right now. After our conversation he put this little slide together which is so true. Just remember this isnt burning on other GREAT MINISTRIES and PASTORS but those ministries need to be more like a 5 hour energy drink and not your main meal. Got To Love It

I am NOT venting in this post, I am simply sharing with you some of the crazy yet humorous things that happened in the past 7 days. 1. We had a former family who left our church a couple of years ago try to recruit one of our faithful families because we don't teach or use the Bible at GRANITE. 2. We had a family leave the church this week because we are to strict on how we teach the Bible and how serious we are about it. 3. I had a "christian" family tell me they left the church because of that darn rock and roll music we use sometimes to open up our services. 4. I baptized a man last week at the lake who said he was tuned in from the moment we sang Livin' On A Prayer (sung during our prayer series, and it was awesome) 5. Was told by a man that our church is to strict when it comes to holiness and purity, so he needed to find a new church that his lifestyle could fit in with 6. Was told that a man in our church was approached by someone and encouraged to leave
