After our conversation he put this little slide together which is so true. Just remember this isnt burning on other GREAT MINISTRIES and PASTORS but those ministries need to be more like a 5 hour energy drink and not your main meal. Everyone needs THE LOCAL CHURCH and YOUR LOCAL CHURCH needs you.

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">Sounds simple and yet it's one of the major reasons why RELATIONSHIPS BREAK DOWN - whether those relationships are personal or professional. But the opposite is also true when there is a commitment to COMMUNICATION the results can be OUTSTANDING! Dictionary.com says COMMUNICATION is the MEANS OF CONNECTION BETWEEN PEOPLE.

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">What does that have to do with MINISTRY? Answer...EVERYTHING! There is NO, let me repeat, NO real, meaningful or lasting ministry without COMMUNICATION. By the way COMMUNICATION is not PREACHING AT PEOPLE its CONNECTING WITH PEOPLE.

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">Remember the old saying, People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care, how do people know we care? Through COMMUNICATION that include both ACTIONS and WORDS. The BIBLE says...

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">Ephesians 4:29, "Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them."

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">The point of Ephesians 4:29 is COMMUNICATION. <span style="font-family: times, "times new roman", serif;">COMMUNICATION WAS MODELED BY JESUS as we see over and over again in the BIBLE...

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">John 10:14, ""I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me," NLT

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">Do you see it. I know them and they know ME. How does that happen? COMMUNICATION. You cannot in 2018 or since the GARDEN OF EDEN build relationships or a ministry without COMMUNICATION.

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="color: #001320; font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">The beauty of the day and age we live in is that COMMUNICATION IS SO EASY! From cell phones, texts, Siri (I don't even have to type I just have to say HEY SIRI), twitter, instagram and facebook how much easier can it get for us to COMMUNICATE to the people we are leading, working with, and love doing life with.
<span style="color: #001320; font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="color: #001320; font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">SO HOW'S YOUR COMMUNICATION? No, honestly how intentional are you about COMMUNICATION? There is no lasting ministry without a CONNECTION BETWEEN PEOPLE.

Had a great talk today with a young pastor who asked how after 33 years of ministry have I stayed so positive and engaged. GREAT QUESTION! He wondered if I have dealt with the stuff on the picture listed in a previous post and for the most part I HAVE NOT.

<div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2129; font-family: "SF Optimized", system-ui, -apple-system, system-ui, ".SFNSText-Regular", sans-serif; font-size: 14px; letter-spacing: -0.12px; margin-bottom: 6px;">

<div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2129; font-family: "SF Optimized", system-ui, -apple-system, system-ui, ".SFNSText-Regular", sans-serif; font-size: 14px; letter-spacing: -0.12px; margin-bottom: 6px; margin-top: 6px;">
That doesn't mean Christy and I don't tired or a tad bit stressed at times (just ask the GU TEAM, lol) but what it does mean we have built things into our lives that keep us focused and moving forward. So he asked what are some of those things? I'll list a couple for your reading pleasure, lol!

<div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2129; font-family: "SF Optimized", system-ui, -apple-system, system-ui, ".SFNSText-Regular", sans-serif; font-size: 14px; letter-spacing: -0.12px; margin-bottom: 6px; margin-top: 6px;">

<div class="text_exposed_show" style="background-color: white; color: #1d2129; display: inline; font-family: "SF Optimized", system-ui, -apple-system, system-ui, ".SFNSText-Regular", sans-serif; font-size: 14px; letter-spacing: -0.12px;">

1. A CLEAR CALL FROM GOD - Nothing trumps GODS CALLING in our lives.

2. CELEBRATING THE WINS - Even though there are tough things about ministry THE WINS/LIFE CHANGE always rules our passion.

3. MY WIFE/KIDS - Seeing our kids grow up to serve GOD and then to serve THE LORD together is one of our dreams come true!

4. OUR CHURCH - I ENJOY OUR CHURCH! Church is not a chore or something I "have to do" its honestly something Christy and I LOVE DOING! We get to be part of this movement called GRANITE UNITED! WOW!!!!

5. THE RIGHT FRIENDS - Christy and I are blessed to have amazing people in our lives who BREATHE LIFE into our spirits!

6. LAUGH - Yep, I really try to LAUGH AS MUCH AS I CAN! Christy and I are just enjoying the ride!!!!

I'm not trying to over simplify "the ministry" but its really been one of the greatest joys in our lives. To live a life fully surrendered to GODS CALLING has resulted in BLESSING AFTER BLESSING blessings I don't deserve but sure am thankful for!

Obviously there was more to the conversation but I felt like i needed to share. Have a great day!

A couple of the take aways were...

Your prayer life unlocks your POTENTIAL LIFE

ASK and it will be given unto you, SEEK and you shall find, KNOCK and the door shall be OPENED unto you - Matt 7:7

Your prayer life reveals the PRIORITIES in your life

In order to be prepared we need to be PRAY-PARED

Our CAMPUS PASTORS did such an amazing job speaking this past weekend they spoke with conviction and compassion as they usually do. Now that the church family has been taught the importance of PRAYER my take away is WHAT DO WE NOW DO AS AN ORGANIZATION to elevate PRAYERS PRIORITY on our campuses?

Well here's a few tings I want to challenge our CAMPUS PASTORS, SERVICE COORDINATORS and MINISTRY TEAMS with...

Since PRAYER MATTERS lets be sure to attend the next GRANITE ALL CAMPUS PRAYER MEETING

Since PRAYER MATTERS lets have healthy PRAYER TEAMS ready to engage following each service. Woman ready to pray with woman, men ready to pray with men and couples ready to pray with couples. Heck why not STUDENTS ready to pray with students

Since PRAYER MATTERS lets follow up and flow through on PRAYER REQUESTS

James 5:16, "Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. NLT

DEAR NEGATRON - NO you will not steal our JOY and NO you will not take up SPACE IN OUR BRAIN and NO you will not distract us from our mission. See we know that birds of a feather flock together to wallow in CHURCH GOSSIP and NEGATIVITY and that HURT PEOPLE HURT PEOPLE. We get it! By we want you to know that TEAM GRANITE is committed to staying faithful in leading your family and friends to JESUS.

Take time to re-read that last sentence.

REMEMBER when you were part of the STORY, remember the JOY that radiated from your smile, remember the SATISFACTION you had knowing your life was being used to MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
Well you still have time to CHANGE THE DIRECTION of your heart and life! GRANITE is a place of GRACE and TRUTH. Those are the words of JESUS and these are the hills we will die on. We will always extend GRACE but we will always TEACH TRUTH and align our lives and church with TRUTH. One without the other is worthless!

We want you to know that this coming EASTER you are welcome BACK HOME there's still plenty of room for you! The truth is we miss you and we want you to jump back in and be a part again. NO NO not the NEGATRON YOU but the KINGDOM IMPACT PLAYER YOU.

Maybe it's just time to come home and stop missing out on so much of what GOD IS DOING! And since we know PROGRAMS DON'T MORE PEOPLE but that PEOPLE MOVE PEOPLE we have FOUR BIG QUESTIONS we constantly ask in regards to those who are either NEW TO GRANITE or CALL GRANITE HOME. What are those questions? Well I'm glad you asked!

Who are they?

Where are they?

What's their next step?

Who's leading them?

The bigger question is what do each of these questions men? Well I'm not going to tell you that right now! HA! Sorry not sorry. I'll post about each question separately in the next few days! Until then...

I am so PUMPED UP about what THE LORD is going to do in and through HIS CHURCH in 2016! In case you haven't heard heres four of the things we will be stepping up and doing in 2016. GRANITE WILL BE...

Launching our GREAT LOWELL CAMPUS in February.

Launching our iCampus by EASTER.

Opening up our CHAMPIONS CLUB - Ministry to the special needs and medically fragile community.

Planting a NEW CHURCH - Paradox Church

Thats just four of the many things we will see GOD do in and through us this year! I'm glad Christy and I can say "I KNOW"!

We also know that nothing comes easy and its going to take a lot of prayer, work, and sacrifice to do what we are called to do. But at GRANITE we are ALL IN for JESUS and others! Lets keep the main thing the main thing, LOVE JESUS, LOVE OTHERS, COMPLETE OUR MISSION all the while PROTECTING and GUARDING THE VISION. Theres to much at stake! Im so glad we get to do this together.

Im reminded of what PAUL told his pastors in Acts 20...

Acts 20:28-31, “28 “So guard yourselves and God’s people. Feed and shepherd God’s flock—his church, purchased with his own blood—over which the Holy Spirit has appointed you as elders. 29 I know that false teachers, like vicious wolves, will come in among you after I leave, not sparing the flock. 30 Even some men from your own group will rise up and distort the truth in order to draw a following. 31 Watch out! Remember the three years I was with you—my constant watch and care over you night and day, and my many tears for you.” NLT

Love you GRANITE the best it yet to come!

<div class="_5pbx userContent" data-ft="{"tn":"K"}" id="js_2k" style="color: #141823; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.38; overflow: hidden;">

GRANITE CHURCH FAMILY - We don't exsist to go through religious motions. We come together for a GREAT PURPOSE and MISSION. Our mission is not to fish in other churches ponds, our misison isn't to swap fish from one aquarium to another, our MISSION SIMPLY is to GLORIFY GOD by the lives we live with a focus on depopulating hell and populating heaven.

Study the BIBLE and there are two things a CHRISTIAN can do here that we cant do on eternity. 1 - SIN, and thats not a good thing to do, but we can do it here. 2 - BRING PEOPLE TO JESUS - and that my family is a GREAT THING to do and purpose to live for.

GRANITE is a church family that is focused WITHOUT APOLOGY on following the example of JESUS who came to seek and to save the lost. Our mission is not to sit and "be fed", we are on a rescue mission. We ahve been saved on purpose and for a purpose.

The churches responsibility is not "to feed" it is to equip (eph. 4). Don't take that the wrong way, of course we called to GROW IN THE GRACE AND KNOWLEDGE OF JESUS but it's so that we can be DOERS OF THE WORD.

In case your new to GRANITE or even if you have been part of our family for a long time let me share with you our STUMP SPEECH. Our STUMP SPEECH is both the WHY and WHAT we do as a church family. See you need to know things like this because there will be people, situations, and circumstances that will do what they can to pull you away from giving your all to the DREAM OF JESUS and we must stand firm because what we do matters.

I love our church and am so grateful that we get to do this together.

CHURCH - Its not a building iITS A FAMILY. Families are about commitment, truthfulness, growth, they stick together through the good and the bad, the thick and the thin. Their enduring, intentional relational and they believe the best and want the best for each other.

Family is about putting the needs of others first despite the personal sacrifice, being faithful to promises made, holding one another accountable, cheering each other along, and dig in because there's too much at stake.

There's a number of reason I take my church family seriously. See "I KNOW" the stories of the people who sit in the chairs, I know the struggles they face, I know the victories they've expereinced, the pain they bear and the healing they've found.

My church has a name and its not only granite UNITED church, its THE NAME of every child, every teenager, and every adult who calls GRANITE HOME.

So if you wondering why I'm so passionate about the church its really not that complicated THESE PEOPLE ARE MY FAMILY! And you need to know I take my family seriously! I will protect my family, I will protect my families unity, and I will do everything I can to love her, grow her, and protect her from hurt.

Our family will not be for everyone, and thats okay because they are other great church families in the area. If GRANITES not for you we are okay with that, and we will encourage you to find a church family you where you can serve JESUS and find community. A church where you can win the lost and make disciples thats GODS PLAN.

Yep, its called family and I'm honored to be part of the GRANITE UNITED FAMILY. The stakes are way to high to play games! <a class="_58cn" data-ft="{"tn":"*N","type":104}" href="https://www.facebook.com/hashtag/nothere?source=feed_text&story_id=10156541586075220" style="color: #3b5998; cursor: pointer; text-decoration: none;">#nothere <a class="_58cn" data-ft="{"tn":"*N","type":104}" href="https://www.facebook.com/hashtag/notnow?source=feed_text&story_id=10156541586075220" style="color: #3b5998; cursor: pointer; text-decoration: none;">#notnow<a class="_58cn" data-ft="{"tn":"*N","type":104}" href="https://www.facebook.com/hashtag/notever?source=feed_text&story_id=10156541586075220" style="color: #3b5998; cursor: pointer; text-decoration: none;">#notever

There are some word you will often hear around the GRANITE UNIVERSE. We are always pushing to grow forward, tweaking things, and trying to crack the code on making more disciples of GODS GLORY!

Recently we transitioned from being "TOTALLY" LOCAL LED to having a CENTRALLY LED TEAM there are THREE C's that are a MUST for us to GROW FORWARD. Three C's that must be paid attention to in this new season at GRANITE UNITED CHURCH.

1. COLLABORATION - As CENTRAL gives direction to their LOCAL LOCATION TEAM MEMBERS one of the important questions a CAMPUS PASTOR can ask during his CAMPUS TEAM MEETING is, "What's "THE THING" CENTRAL is pushing forward so as a team we can be on the same page to PRAY FOR and CHEER YOU ON LOCALLY?" The COLLABORATION aligns the other ministries to do what they need to do in order to achieve the goal.

2. COOPERATION - As CENTRAL gives direction to their LOCAL LOCATION TEAMS another very important question CAMPUS PASTORS MUST ASK is, "How can we HELP and SUPPORT you as fellow TEAM MEMBERS?" LOCALLY we are a team and need to have the opportunity to LEAN INTO one another. In other words, "WHAT CAN WE AS A TEAM DO TO HELP YOU DO WHAT YOU'VE BEEN ASKED TO DO". Team work makes the dream work!

3. COMMUNICATION - COMMUNICATION IS ALWAYS KING! Teams need to be able to TALK, CONNECT and SHARE INFORMATION weekly with each other. We have a saying at GRANITE, NO COMMUNICATION IS NO COMMUNICATION.

THE SHIFT is an EITHER/OR its a BOTH/AND. CENTRAL NEEDS LOCAL, as much as LOCAL NEEDS CENTRAL. Together we are better.

Pastor Milashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07589325010008949252noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8457715602999138617.post-60789022643207286292015-10-26T16:02:00.003-04:002015-10-26T16:02:36.058-04:00THE SHIFT - GRANITE UNITED STRUCTURE CHANGEThrough the years as GRANITE has GROWN NUMERICALLY it has been imperative that we as an organization work to stay in front of the growth so that we can SUSTAIN OUR GROWTH and keep pace with what THE LORD IS DOING IN HIS CHURCH. What we've discovered through the years is whenever we allowed our church to HIT ATTENDANCE LIDS we usually experienced A DECLINE IN ATTENDANCE.

Why THE SHIFT? One of the things we have said for years at GRANITE has been WHAT GOT US HERE WONT GET US THERE. So up until recently we have been a LOCALLY DRIVEN STAFF and now we have SHIFTED to a CENTRALLY LED STAFF.

Believing that THE SHIFT in our STRUCTURE will enable us BREAK BARRIERS, SUSTAIN GROWTH and REPRODUCE MORE CAMPUSES. Let me give one of the biggest advantages THE SHIFT in our leadership structure brings to the table.

Instead of everything resting on the shoulders of our CAMPUS PASTORS we now have a CENTRAL LEADERSHIP TEAM to give FOCUS and DIRECTION to SPECIFIC MINISTRIES. Meaning that instead of our CAMPUS PASTORS needing to be all things to all ministries, they now can focus on REACHING and KEEPING PEOPLE. THE SHIFT is a huge win for both CAMPUS PASTORS and our LOCAL TEAMS.

So whats the point! The point is as a GROWING CHURCH we have very comfortable with being uncomfortable knowing that we don't have everything figured out, but we are committed to GROWING FORWARD TOGETHER in order to BRING OUR REGION TO JESUS!

For our GRANITE LEADERSHIP TEAM lets never forget WE ARE BETTER TOGETHER!

In a GROWING and MULTIPLYING CHURCH we have to be careful of jumping into ALL WE CAN DO at the neglect of WHAT WE MUST DO! Take a second and read that again.

One of the things we have said for years at GRANITE is WHAT GOT US HERE WON'T GET US THERE and its true. HOWEVER the constant tension is working to KEEP THE MAIN THINGS THE MAIN THINGS! With every thing we COULD DO there are certain things we MUST DO as LEADERS.

As leaders we MUST stay focused on TEACHING THE WORD, FELLOWSHIP, BREAKING OF BREAD and PRAYER. This was and continues to BE GODS HEART according to ACTS 2:42. As point leaders we must stay focused on making sure these continue to be the priority of the church and the MINISTRY WE LEAD.

But what about all the other things that HAVE TO GET DONE in order to continue GROWING and STAYING HEALTHY? Thats where raising up and developing your leadership base comes in. Everyone is gifted by GOD to serve THE BODY, and part of growing disciples is CALLING OUT OF PEOPLE WHAT GOD HAS PUT IN HIS PEOPLE. Then committing and implementing strategic systems for development, continued training and encouragement.

Way to many LEADERS get caught in MINISTRY TASKS (that have to get done), at the sacrifice of the LEADERS PRIORITIES. We can not and should not do EVERYTHING by ourselves, but MATURE and GROWING LEADERS still know how to GET THINGS DONE through TEAM WORK, influence, and clear communication.

What we do matters and we cannot afford to let the GOOD THINGS replace the BEST THINGS we should be investing our time and energy in. Everything is important to get done, but not everything SHOULD BE DONE by you.

So how do we get there? Being part of a GROWING CHURCH brings with it some unique challenges. Think about the early church in the BOOK OF ACTS. They were experiencing EXPLOSIVE GROWTH which led to CHURCH COMPLAINTS!
Acts 6:1-4, “6 But as the believers rapidly multiplied, there were
rumblings of discontent. The Greek-speaking believers complained about the
Hebrew-speaking believers, saying that their widows were being discriminated
against in the daily distribution of food.
2 So the Twelve called a meeting of all the believers. They said, “We
apostles should spend our time teaching the word of God, not running a food
program. 3 And so, brothers, select seven men who are well respected and are
full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will give them this responsibility. 4 Then we
apostles can spend our time in prayer and teaching the word.” NLT

Don't miss what's actually going on here. The APOSTLES were all about making sure the PHYSICAL NEEDS of the church were being addressed and met, but not by the CHURCH LEADERS and especially not at the expense of NEGLECTING THE TEACHING OF GODS WORD and PRAYER.

So what did they do to solve the problem? What was the key to keeping the church growing forward and healthy? It was RAISING UP VOLUNTEERS! They went and found people to step into the MINISTRY to do what those people were called and gifted to do, so that the apostles could do what they were called and gifted to do. This is BIBLICAL and it is one of the keys to keeping our churches GROWING FORWARD and HEALTHY!

Pastor Milashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07589325010008949252noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8457715602999138617.post-10774613288258869442015-05-08T10:27:00.000-04:002015-05-08T10:27:08.970-04:00GREAT LEADERS ARE GREAT COACHES #1One of the privileges of ministry is that we get to do ministry with others! We get to invite people on to our teams to see THE DREAM OF JESUS COME ALIVE! So what is LEADING and COACHING all about?

First let me tell what LEADING and COACHING are not. They are not the opportunity to to USE PEOPLE, MANIPULATE PEOPLE, or to GET THINGS DONE on your TO-DO LIST. Way to many LEADERS and COACHES lose their teams due to SELFISHNESS and SELF-CENTEREDNESS. To many LEADERS and COACHES are consumed with "ME" instead of "WE".

So what do LEADERS and COACHES do? Its not complicated really. LEADERS and COACHES help CALL OUT and DEVELOP the potential and gifts of an individual. In other words LEADERS and COACHES step into people's lives and call out of them what GOD has placed inside of them.

In the book UNLOCKING POTENTIAL that our pastoral team is presently reading COACHING is defined as "unleashing or unlocking the potential of another human being". How great is that!

The BIBLE teaches us that GOD has a GREAT PLAN and PURPOSE for everyones life. As LEADERS and COACHES we get the privilege to help UNLEASH and UNLOCK all that GOD has placed inside a person! WOW! Is that great or what!

Lets all commitment to when we step into someones life, or when we invite someone to serve by our side that that person is better because of it! Lets commit to seeing KINGDOM GREATNESS in our teams, and lets help them achieve the DREAM JESUS has for their lives.

Pastor Milashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07589325010008949252noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8457715602999138617.post-15045543159471539482015-04-03T13:04:00.000-04:002015-04-03T13:04:26.116-04:00Whats the big deal about CONNECTIONSI recently had a GREAT meeting with the CONNECTION LEADERS from all of our campuses and wanted to share a thought that I shared with them. CONNECTIONS is about CONNECTING people to JESUS, GRANITE and their PURPOSE. The BIBLE calls this MAKING DISCIPLES.

Its EASTER WEEKEND 2015 and we will have about 2,000 plus people attending our worship services. Many of them will be FIRST TIME GUESTS which is very exciting. But our goal each weekend is not to fill up our database with names its about REACHING and KEEPING PEOPLE. Its about seeing people lives TRANSFORMED, STORIES REWRITTEN, and people receiving CLEAN HEARTS and BRAND NEW STARTS because they have MET JESUS!

Truth is EVERYONE who calls GRANITE HOME is a part of our CONNECTIONS TEAM. EVERYONE has the opportunity each and every weekend to extend the LOVE OF CHRIST to those who attend our services. So lets ALL be thinking CONNECTIONS!

Never forget that GOD HAS CHOSEN to do some of HIS BEST WORK THROUGH HIS KIDS! Lets do this!

If you read my first blog about the HOLY UTILITY BELT you had to figure I would add a picture of BATMAN somewhere along the line! Honestly how cool is this picture, lol!

So we are talking through what every KINGDOM IMPACT LEADER needs to have on the HOLY UTILITY BELT! The truth is we have to constantly look at what we are carrying around because over time we pick up a lot of things that CLUTTER UP and GET IN THE WAY of the things we really need to be EFFECTIVE in ministry.

The first was THE MATRIX! Every leader needs to have in their possession THEIR MATRIX and they need to know how to use it. For more information on the power and purpose of THE MATRIX refer to the previous blog.

So lets talk about the second tool that GAME CHANGING LEADERS need. Its what we call THE BLACK BOOK! Sounds mysterious doesn't it, but make no mistake about it there is no mystery about THE BLACK BOOK. Before I tell you what it is, let me tell you what is does! THE BLACK BOOK brings things like FOCUS, CLARITY, and A DEFINED PROCESS all of which help us help people become FULLY DEVOTED FOLLOWERS OF JESUS!

So what is THE BLACK BOOK? This is going to blow your mind, ready, wait for it, its A BLACK BOOK! Whats inside THE BLACK BOOK? Well remember THE MATRIX is full of the names of people WHO ARE CONNECTED TO JESUS and CONNECTED TO GRANITE/MINISTRY TEAM.

THE BLACK BOOK also contains names, the names of people WHO WE WANT TO CONNECT TO JESUS and CONNECT TO THE CHURCH.

THE BLACK BOOK...

HELPS US TO STAY FOCUSED on guests who have been and continue to come to our services. It helps keep our guests in front of us and so that we can PRAY for them as we work to CONNECT THEM TO JESUS and CONNECT THEM TO GRANITE.

BRINGS CLARITY to where someone is on their journey so that we can IDENTIFY and KNOW what their NEXT STEP IS. This is huge because we are in the disciple making business. This also means we are taking notes, marking down milestones, which leads me to the next point...

GIVES US A DEFINED PROCESS meaning as we take down notes and watch over people we know where the person is in the process of CONNECTING TO JESUS and CONNECTING TO GRANITE.

So there is power in THE BLACK BOOK. If you are part of the GRANITE LEADERSHIP TEAM we want you to ALWAYS bring your MATRIX and BLACK BOOK to staff meeting. Why? Because we are not about programs we are about people!

So where is your BLACK BOOK

Who's in your BLACK BOOK

When was the last time you used your BLACK BOOK in your meeting as a team

What celebrations can you share from your BLACK BOOK of people who were once DISCONNECTED TO JESUS and GRANITE but now ARE CONNECTED?

Pastor Milashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07589325010008949252noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8457715602999138617.post-34909678870518175992015-02-25T21:34:00.002-05:002015-02-25T21:34:37.556-05:00HOLY UTILITY BELT CAMPUS LEADER!Lets talk about a LEADERS HOLY UTILITY BELT, things that successful leaders must have quick access too and use often. Now in case your thinking about BATMAN'S UTILITY BELT that consisted BATARANGS, GRAPPLE GUN, SMOKE PELLETS, LINE LAUNCHERS, and a REMOTE CLAW just to name some of the cool stuff BATMAN had at his disposal in his war against DARKNESS!

Now before your thinking we could use some of those same things in our ministries let me be clear MOST OF THESE won't help us in ministry (I did say most)! But there are a few things that every CAMPUS PASTOR, SERVICE COORDINATOR, and MINISTRY LEADER must have when it comes to their HOLY UTILITY BELT! I'll take the next couple of posts to share one at a time. So here's the first one...

THE VOLUNTEER MATRIX

In case your not sure what this is it's the way we TRACK VOLUNTEERS and MINISTRY NEEDS. Its also the tool we also use to know what areas we need to RECRUIT for in order to have HEALTHY ROTATIONS. But it is so much more, its also the best way to...

PRAY FOR OUR VOLUNTEERS - Honestly, most leaders DON'T REALLY pray for those who they lead. Its not a lack of caring its really a lack of awareness! Keeping your MATRIX on your UTILITY BELT, meaning close access and easy to get to, will help you REALLY PRAY for those you have the HONOR TO LEAD.

INTENTIONALLY EXPRESS GRATITUDE TO OUR TEAMS - If you're not keep your MATRIX close to you, reading it, praying though it, and keeping those who ministry under your lead IN FRONT OF YOU then you have about a ZERO CHANCE of showing REAL, CONSISTENT, GRATITUDE and HONOR for those who serve under you! And here's the deal, people who are over asked and under appreciated WILL LEAVE YOUR MINISTRY!

You don't need BATMANS AWESOME UTILITY BELT, but you do need your HOLY UTILITY BELT and you need to keep it close and use it often! We too are in a battle against darkness, only difference is OUR BATTLE IS REAL, and WHAT WE DO MATTERS!

Where's your MATRIX

How are you really USING IT for more than plugging in holes

Are you really PRAYING for those you lead

Whens the last time you took time to THANK and HONOR those who serve on your campus

What do you need to TAKE OFF your utility belt to MAKE ROOM for this essential item

Pastor Milashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07589325010008949252noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8457715602999138617.post-86527090271069171652015-02-23T12:01:00.000-05:002015-02-23T14:12:19.663-05:00NEW ENGLAND RHYTHMS - OPPORTUNITY ABOUNDS!Oh the JOYS of MINISTRY IN NEW ENGLAND! It seems like we have two seasons sometimes in NEW ENGLAND, WINTER and 4th of JULY. In case you haven't noticed MINISTRY IN NEW ENGLAND is not always easy. However we get to CHOOSE whether to focus on the OBSTACLES or OPPORTUNITIES that these rhythms present!

Yes, the OBSTACLES ARE REAL, but make no mistake about it, that in the midst of the MOST FRUSTRATING RHYTHMS of MINISTRY IN NEW ENGLAND abound some of the GREATEST MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES! As we work to keep the church FOCUSED and ALIGNED during many SNOWED OUT weekends, let me suggest some of the GREAT OPPORTUNITIES these rhythms provide...

Less crowded services provide an OPPORTUNITY to better see and connect with new or newer people on our campuses

These rhythms provide an OPPORTUNITY for us to see more new people serve in ministries as we work hard to keep ministries staffed on the weekends

SNOW-MA-GEDDON has given us the OPPORTUNITY to discover we can do CHURCH ONLINE SUCCESSFULLY setting us up for our future iCAMPUS

Weekend SNOW STORMS have given us the OPPORTUNITY to teach our people that ONLINE RECURRING GIVING keeps the MISSION OF JESUS moving forward and help people take a step into CONSISTENT GIVING

NEW ENGLAND rhythms have provided us the OPPORTUNITY to identify HIGH CAPACITY LEADERS strengthening our core, our teams, and setting us up for campus expansions

NEW ENGLAND rhythms provide us the OPPORTUNITY to help people who might have gotten lost in the crowd CONNECT IN COMMUNITY with those they now can see

Bottom line these rhythms are what we make of them! We can see them as OBSTACLES or we can see the OPPORTUNITIES, EMBRACE THEM, WORK THEM, and when the rhythm/weather changes we will see all these POCKETS COME TOGETHER and THEN we will be able to say to the RHYTHMS OF NEW ENGLAND...

YOU CAN'T STOP ME! YOU CAN'T STOP GRANITE! YOU CANT STOP JESUS!

Pastor Milashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07589325010008949252noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8457715602999138617.post-17573300639995424962015-02-06T08:48:00.000-05:002015-02-06T08:53:07.980-05:00CONTACTING vs. CONNECTINGAt GRANITE we want to REACH AND KEEP PEOPLE. WHY? So that we can help people CONNECT WITH GOD and LIVE THE LIFE JESUS DESIRES for them. Every week at GRANITE we have a lot of wonderful guests who share their information with our church GIVING US...

An opportunity to THANK THEM for being our guests

A chance to INFORM THEM of what GRANITE is all about

The privilege to talk through THE GOSPEL

An opening to RE-INVITE THEM back

Ultimately allowing us to CONNECT BACK with our guests

Also remember each week at GRANITE we inform our gusts that if they will tell us a little it about themselves someone from OUR TEAM with CONNECT with them during the week. This happens BEFORE our guests filler CONNECTION CARDS, so lets KEEP OUR WORD and FOLLOW THROUGH with our promise.

HOWEVER if we are not careful we will settle for CONTACTING a guest as opposed to CONNECTING with them. What's the difference between the two?

Settling to leave a VOICEMAIL instead of CALLING BACK to talk

Dropping an EMAIL and if no response not trying again

Sending a POSTCARD and not following up with a PHONE, TEXT, or EMAIL CONVERSATION

Notice the word CONVERSATION. CONTACTING guests is only about DROPPING INFORMATION. CONNECTING with guests is about CREATING CONVERSATION.

Lets understand that when someone TRUSTS THE CHURCH to share with us ways to CONNECT WITH THEM then we need to CONNECT WITH THEM.

Lets never forget that JESUS is working in their lives, that they may need prayer, a community to belong too, a BIBLE verse to encourage them, a place for their child or teenager to connect, and so much more that THE CHURCH has to offer.

So GRANITE lets never settle for CONTACTING guests, lets make sure we CONNECT with them! There's a story to be written and we get to be a part of it!

This one is really personal but since its my blog I'm giving myself permission to do so, lol! If it weren't for the following people the ministry at GRANITE UNITED CHURCH would NOT be where it is today.

CHRISTY MILAS - My beuatiful amazing hot wife! We have been dating for over 30 years and she is my inspiration, best friend and partner in ministry. She cares zero about being in front of people but loves THE LORD and PEOPLE with all her heart. She has never held me back from doing anything ministry related and has serves JESUS by my side since day one. She is THE LOVE OF MY LIFE!

ASHLEY CHRISTINE TINNEY - Ashley my oldest daughter may be the most creative gifted person walking planet earth! Her dedication to the ministry and GRANITE is surpassed by no one. She loves JESUS, loves serving, loves giving 110% all the time. To the point she wears herself down! If you see it on a slide, picture, postcard, GRANITE gear, photo booth, and so much more ASHLEY did it! She also is an amazing mommy to my cool GRANDSON OLLIE and an amazing wife!

CALEY CHRISTINE KING - KK as we have always called her has a love and passion for JESUS and PEOPLE that has always been easy to see! KK serves in our daycare and student ministries and pours everything she has into our kids and students. She doesn't like seeing people mistreated and is a defender of those who cannot defend themselves! She is the amazing mommy to my beautiful GRANDDAUGHTER AUBREY and is also an amazing wife!

CODY ANTHONY MILAS - My son! There's a lot of adjectives I could to describe CODY such as WARRIOR, FAITHFUL, MOMMYS BOY (lol), BALLER, but more importantly he is a servant of THE LORD JESUS! Cody serves JESUS through the video ministry at GRANITE. In other words if you see it on THE SCREEN or on THE WEB more than likely Cody created it! Granite has been able to go to A...HOLE...NUTHA...LEVEL because of his gifts! I am so proud of him!

TERRY and MARIAN MILAS - My parents moved to NEW ENGLAND just months after Christy and I did. They possess a burning passion to see peoples lives changed and NEW ENGLAND come to JESUS! My parents have worked full time at the church for 17 years and have never received a penny in compensation! Humanly speaking GRANITE would have not survived the early days without my parents.

The question I received (which by the way was awesome) is how can I be the BEST STAFF MEMBER I can be so that I can be the help my PASTOR NEEDS ME TO BE. Obviously I explained that's a question you need to ASK YOUR PASTOR but here is how I would answer the question.

I won't elaborate nor are these in any particle order, but here's some of what I would say...

DON'T KEEP ME IN THE DARK about your ministry - I don't have time to chase information down

OVER COMMUNICATE even if you think I know you TAKE THE INITIATIVE and make sure I know. We are all busy but you are on my team and I need to know how it's going with the part I have entrusted you with. Whether I ask or not, by virtue of me asking you to be on MY TEAM, consider that "THE ASK".

ASK QUESTIONS - There is always time for clarifying questions. I'd rather take 30 minutes clearing up and ask then to spend 3 hours in a staff meeting as to why we missed a mark.

THE CHURCH PEOPLE MATTER TO ME - Although you may have been invited onto a team and given the privilege of leading people NEVER FORGET you are leading on your LEAD PASTORS BEHALF. You were not asked onto the team because your pastor does not care of like the people of the church, its the opposite. He is so in love with them like an NFL head coach he is trying to give HIS CHURCH PEOPLE THE BEST CARE POSSIBLE on the road to becoming disciples. Your are an ASSISTANT COACH so assist and carry out the HEART OF THE HEAD COACH.

CLOSE LOOPS - YOU get the chance to focus on a FEW THINGS never forget your PASTOR HAS TO FOCUS ON THE WHOLE THING. So here it is again your LEAD PASTOR needs you to CLOSE LOOPS. There is NO TIME to chase down information but I think I mentioned that already, lol!

DON'T INTRODUCE NEW IDEAS - At first this is going to sound wrong so follow me. At GRANITE we have spent a lot of time discussing WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO, and unless something is pushed out from the team we do not need or want individuals pushing anything outside of what we have agreed on. ALIGNMENT MATTERS and all ideas need to be fleshed out with the team, and then should be executed on the local level.

USE GRANITE LINGO - Granite has worked hard at developing what we call GRANITEISMS. We want our teams using our language and not introducing anything outside of what we have decided to be our language at GRANITE. Again LANGUAGE shows unity, alignment, agreement, and just help push the vision while moving the people towards discipleship.

I have a few more but I have already given too much! No matter what NEVER FORGET if your ON A TEAM then be a TEAM PLAYER. If you want to RUN THE TEAM, call the shots, or don't agrees with your churches/LEAD PASTORS VISION it may be time to go START YOUR OWN CHURCH and develop your OWN TEAM. That's not a bad thing, if its a GOD THING.

Pastor Milashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07589325010008949252noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8457715602999138617.post-74450502747557265292014-07-28T17:43:00.001-04:002014-07-28T17:43:10.840-04:00TIPS FOR STICKY MEANINGFUL MEETINGSAs LEADERS who are constantly POURING INTO, INVESTING, PUSHING VISION and MOVING PEOPLE we find ourselves in a lot of meetings. So as you can see MEETINGS MATTER, they absolutely do and because of that I want to share some ideas to CREATE meetings that are EFFECTIVE, EFFICIENT, and EXCELLENT.

So here's some of my TIPS FOR STICKY MEANINGFUL MEETINGS...

Pick times that work best for your VOLUNTEERS

Announce the meeting WELL IN ADVANCE

Ask people to RESPOND to meeting requests

GIVE THE HOSPITALITY PART AWAY! You can chair the meeting and also share the hospitality part

CREATE a nice, compelling, creative meeting space

Have some munchies, FOOD IS A GAME CHANGER

Have FUN

Always have a WRITTEN AGENDA, no shooting from the hip

TEACH LESS FOR MORE!

Have FUN (yep repeat because its that important)

Start meeting with CELEBRATION

Share GODS WORD

Use GRANITEISMS

SHARE SHARE SHARE your meeting with other leaders on your team

Expect and initiate CONVERSATION and PARTICIPATION

POST PICTURES of the meeting

Use a WHITE BOARD when possible

Think of COMMERCIAL BREAKS

Share STORIES, stories are FUEL to a leaders soul

Summarize with ACTION ITEMS

Follow up with EMAIL summarizing meeting

Circle up for CLOSING WORD and PRAYER

I know there's a lot here, but I believe each of these are essential to having a GAME CHANGING, MEMORY MAKING, KINGDOM IMPACT MEETING!

Pastor Milashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07589325010008949252noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8457715602999138617.post-81601993286459347522014-06-11T12:48:00.001-04:002014-06-11T12:48:23.182-04:00THE RIGHT TEAM MEMBER...There is nothing like having THE RIGHT TEAM MEMBERS by a leaders side! A RIGHT TEAM MEMBER brings PASSION to an already PASSIONATE PURSUIT OF A VISION, adds WOOD to an ALREADY BURNING FIRE, and LOVES THE MINISTRY not a ministry.

At GRANITE we have a few GRANITISMS when it comes to THE RIGHT TEAM MEMBERS

Every NEW PEAK requires a NEW TWEAK

Who got us here may not be the RIGHT PERSON to get us there

Leaders are not FOUND they are DEVELOPED

At GRANITE as our church grows we must have growing leaders. Leaders who are willing to take PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY for their growth. As an church/organization we have a responsibility to lead, feed, and develop our leaders but that does not take away from the personal responsibly for our leaders to through INVESTIGATION and INTERROGATION.

The RIGHT TEAM MEMBER has a commitment to helping the whole team grow.

The RIGHT TEAM MEMBER focuses on where we are going not where we have been.

The RIGHT TEAM MEMBER focuses on SOLUTIONS not problems. I say at GRANITE problems we have, SOLUTIONS we need.

The RIGHT TEAM MEMBER constantly RE-CALIBRATES what is need in THE NOW, as we GROW FORWARD towards the WHEN.

The RIGHT TEAM MEMBER FUELS THE VISION, they do not FRUSTRATE THE VISION.

The RIGHT TEAM MEMBER sometimes has to be PULLED BACK, but NEVER EVER PULLED ALONG!

The RIGHT TEAM MEMBER always OVER COMMUNICATES, never under communicates.

I could go on and on, but I think that goes you a healthy and clear understanding of what a RIGHT TEAM MEMBER at GRANITE looks like!
